This whole Maple Leaf listeria thing is disturbing in itself. What's more disturbing is hearing that people are still stupid enough to eat any deli meat, hot dogs, sausages, prepared meat dinners, etc. If there was a huge recall for prepared vegetarian products like veggie burgers, veggie dogs and so on, you can bet the farm that I wouldn't be taking chances with any of them.

Are people just being lazy or are they being stupid? Has there not been adequate information communicated? And of course, I am not implying that the people who have gotten sick or died are stupid. They could have been exposed to the bacteria way before the recall.

By the way, some people in Nova Scotia may have listeriosis too. Don't fuck around with this and just stay away from prepared meat products until this is cleared up.

Final thoughts - If you absolutely must eat meat right now, make sure you get it from a restaurant that uses fresh meat or cook it yourself.
